Biography
Slinkachu is as a London-based artist who creates very small street-based installations and then photographs them: from far away and up-close .Slinkachu the artist was born Stuart Pantoll and thinks his name originally came from the nickname "Slinky" due to his curly hair when he was younger. He was always interested in small things as a child particularly figures, houses and trees that were part of a train set that his dad made him. His work originated in London but has now gone global.
The 'Little People Project' started in 2006. It involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which are then placed, photographed and left on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project. The street-based side of his work plays with the notion of surprise and he aims to encourage people on the street to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes he set up,through the photography and the titles he gave these scenes, aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city. But underneath this, there is always some humour.
I think the humour in his work is why I really enjoyed this project as I was keen to try and recreate and do my work in a similar style of work to his

This picture is extremely good from a photographers point of view because in this piece he has incorporated reflections of the water from the building, he also has a small f/stop so he only has the people on the island in focus which automatically draws your attention to the main section in this photo. The bright green from the tennis ball contrasts with the darker background.
After Slinkachu had created an installation he would photograph them from far away and up close. People would often walk past them and not even notice that they were there.
The name of this installation is "The last resort". The titles add to the humour of the photos and often have a double meaning that makes you think about the photo content.

Isaac Cordal
Isaac Cordal is a London based based artist like Slinkachu that uses mini figures.
Isaac Cordal’s work is driven by the sculpture and installation itself. Cordal is a first and foremost a traditional sculptor, modelling his primary figures in clay. He then casts multiples in cement using silicone moulds. The multiples are then installed in their urban locations, and it’s this vernacular approach to his street level intervention that harmonises his work so well to it’s environment. The cement figures blend into the landscape by their use of similar materials to which they are placed within. He installes the tiny dioramas in cities around the world, takes photographs – leaving his work to be kicked or ignored or taken away.

Christopher Boffoli Is based in Seattle. He is best known for his "Big Appetites" photographs series, in which tiny, detailed human figures pose in real food environments. His photos have been published in dozens of countries around the world, and are displayed in galleries and private collections in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
Christopher Boffoli is my favourite mini figure artist because I like the concept of his photos and his big appetites series is my favourite because of how smart and creative the images come out.
The photo of the man mowing the orange is my favourite. This picture is very appealing to the spectator because the colours contrast like the background and the orange , while the main section of the photo is the person mowing the orange is placed near a power spot which makes the photo look that little bit better.

Images taken over the duration of the project
In photography you must make sure that you keep all of your photos no matter how 'good'or 'bad' they are.You can use them to reflect and see where you went wrong and what you can do in to erase that mistake in the future.I also keep them because i enjoy looking at the progress I've made from the start of the project and even for years to come I will still remember specific rules and what can make pictures more effective.

Starting off photos
This section of my website was my very first attempt at working in the style of Slinkachu. Initially I planned the area in the school grounds where the photos were to be taken. My decisions were based on many different factors such as light, texture, foreground, background and small detail. My first takes below were taken in the field because for these pictures I knew that depending on the day I would have to change my light exposure and my ISO to make the picture come out how I wanted them to while also increasing my knowledge on using the camera.
On this picture I had quite bad camera shake so everything came out blurry.I could have prevented this by using a tripod which would of kept the camera still for a good shot or I could have increased the shutter speed but by doing this it would of made the picture darker due to the time that the lens is exposed to light. In this picture I wasn't happy with the composition of the people in relation to the bench so I didn't develop this Picture further.
In this image I had good idea of what I was going to do but when I was starting off taking pictures I couldn't get the effect that i was trying to create because i didn't have enough experience or knowledge of how the camera actually worked.
This picture is massively under exposed however I was pleased with the contrasting surfaces and the theme of the picture so I decided to carry it on further and also have it as one of my final pieces.

In this picture I over exposed letting in to much light this is why its so white. To change this picture and get it to the right exposure I would of needed to get the exposure level indicator to 0 instead of having it as +2
As you can see in the photos above I have made quite a few errors on them but if you look through my later photos I have managed to progress to stop my pictures coming out like this.
Improving my photos.
In this second take I adjusted the light exposure which was a big improvement and was just right for the image.
In this photo I had a smaller depth of field. When I was setting the focus point on the camera I set it more towards the midpoint of the image rather than the bottom. This means that the soil is in focus, however the section that I did want in focus appears blurry. This photo is not particularly bad due to me having used a shallow depth of field but I was keen to improve it further.

In this picture I managed to have the the image in focus without camera shake but I massively under-exposed the picture which is the reason it came out so dark. I could have prevented this by increasing the ISO or the exposure meter.
In this picture I was experimenting with different texture backgrounds. I liked the concept of the image however when I took the picture I should have used a smaller f-stop to keep only the hiker in focus.
In this image I set the focus point in the wrong position resulting in the plain section of grass being in focus when I would have preferred to have the soldiers as the main focal point. The picture is also over exposed - I should have changed the ISO as it was a bright day.
Final Pictures
In this photo I used the rule of thirds to separate the image into three sections and I had the flower on a power spot to draw the viewers eye to the flower where the miniature figures are in focus.I like the picture because the blue and the red complement each other nicely. To get this picture I had to use a small depth of field to make sure that only the flower and the figures are in focus, but I also had to change my focus point to the right hand side of the picture otherwise they would have been blurred out.
The title I have chosen for this image is "We stand together"
The title I have chosen for this image is "We stand together"
This was my favourite picture in this project because I purposely didn't place the figures near to a power spot.Instead I saw it as an opportunity to be used as a mirror line for the image due to the building I took it in being so symmetrical.I like the repetitive pattern of the lights and windows in the background making it visually eye catching towards the subject. The title is "Still standing"
In this picture I managed to get the soldier on a powerspot as well as using a small f-stop to keep only the can and figure in focus. The exposure on this photo was good
I was really pleased with this picture. The soldier, the safety rope and the central leaf in the photo is where the focus point is and is much clearer than the rest of the image.
